Nothing out of the ordinary...

Birds nest, spider carrying her young, and... a moth which... well I- ...I just... I can't stop looking.

Brunch

Not much of an update. Just a dead turtle on the beach and the creepy red-eyed vultures enjoying their meal.

By crickey, mate!

Roit! By crickey! Today our loyal friend and caretaker, João Paulo, found a "caninanas" (or Rat Snake, unless I'm mistaken) wondering about on our front porch. The bloke from Ceará, Brazil had the cahones to grab it by hand just as a famous wildlife expert would have (non-venemous according to João Paulo, though it does bite). We set the fellow free a good distance away shortly after the photos were taken.

Butox Roach Massacre

No, not the anti-wrinkle injection product known as botox, but the poisonous antipest product known in Brazil as butox. I gave my dogs a much needed bath last Sunday using this very product. Caution must be taken so as to not apply too much in a bucket of water. It's some pretty strong stuff, if the smell is anything to go by (and the resulting massacre).

Anyway, my dogs are just fine (and clean), a slew of roaches, on the other hand... not so much. I poured whatever was left in the bucket of butox in our laundry room faucet drain. About 30 minutes time lead to an unexpected, but very amusing (and perhaps gross) result:

Butox - Not to be confused with botox! No, then it'd known as the miracle pro-wrinkle product.

Caution: Posion
Poison indeed. Wouldn't want to inject this stuff into your face!

Night Owl & Squirrel

Not much of an update, just some pictures of an owl I captured a while back while visiting another city. I never knew owls stood on one foot. Perhaps it was resting the other?

Slothlike

On this somber, chilly afternoon, a gentle sloth was found on our beach being devoured by vultures. ....so I took some pictures. BUT! Being the animal lovers we are, we decided to give the poor fellow a proper, respectful burial.

-"Hey, wait, what are you doing?"
-"What do you think I'm doing? I'm gonna carry him to the hole."
-"Not with your bare hands, man! Let me get you some gloves!"
-"Alright, where are they? Ah, jeez, they're all the way at home. Nah, gonna take too long."
"Then let's use the shovels!"
"Ah, come on, look, see... I'm carrying the damn thing! All I have to do is wash my hands afterwards. JEEZ!"

We notified his family, but unfortunately they informed us that it'd take them six months to get here, and we just didn't have that time.

-"Alright, let's go home."
-"Wait... maybe we should say a few words."
-"Ah, shit..."
-"*sighs*"
"-Alright, make it quick."
-"Okay, place your hands behind your back and look down."
-"..."
-"COME ON! Okay... this... sloth... wasn't like... the bad sloths you often hear about on the news nowadays..."
"*giggle, chuckle*"
-"Erhem... he was full of laughter and joy... and he... slept like no other before him... and... yeah, RIP, little fella."
-"*represses laughter... fails... TCHSHSHSUHAHAHA*"

Tarantula Hawk

Finally, a new update! About this time one year ago I caught sight of a tarantula hawk dragging its prey. The only camera at my disposal was a pocket camera with frustratingly slow auto focus. I followed the wasp around for a while and managed some okay shots. I eventually got tired of following it when it reached the ceiling and appeared to be confused as to where it was going.

The only real exciting moment was when a gecko showed up and appeared to be interested in acquiring a meal, but sadly nothing became of it.
